Messy answers in. Clean attribution out.
However customers answer “How did you hear about us?”, Zigpoll files it under one channel and one source, tied to the order.
Zigpoll is the trusted feedback partner for 20,000+ companies.
Three Steps to Cleaner Attribution
Use the template or your own wording. Any question listing three or more channels is recognised.
“Which show?” after Podcast. Only people who picked that answer see it.
Set Answers by to Reported Channel or Reported Source for orders, revenue and AOV.
Every Answer, Ready to Budget Against
Read on submit, tied to the order, sent to your stack.
Ask as deep as you spend.
Add “Which show?” or “Which creator?” to any answer and chain as many as you need. No depth limit, on every plan.
The follow-up’s answer becomes the Reported Source, saved with the channel and the order as one record.

No more “Other” pile.
“saw it on insta” and “my sister told me” count under Instagram and Word of mouth as they arrive. Thirty-five channels, sixteen languages.
Fixed rules, not a guessing model: the same answer always lands in the same row, and unmatched text keeps the customer’s own words.

One creator, one row.
“@Tess.Runs.Far”, “@TESS.RUNS.FAR” and “saw @tess.runs.far” land on one line. Capitals, spacing and handle styles are evened out.
No list to build or keep current. A creator you signed yesterday appears the first time a customer names them.
How attribution surveys work
Revenue by what they said.
Set Answers by to Reported Channel or Reported Source for orders, revenue and AOV per row. Flip to Last-Click or UTM to see where clicks disagree.
Past picks of a listed option are grouped by channel from day one.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
What is advanced attribution in Zigpoll?
It is what happens after a customer answers “How did you hear about us?”. Zigpoll reads the answer, whether picked, typed or given in a follow-up, and adds two fields to the response: a Reported Channel from a fixed list, and a Reported Source holding the name they gave. Both are tied to the order, so every row in the report has revenue beside it.
-
Do I have to turn it on or configure anything?
No. Any question whose options name three or more different channels is treated as an attribution question, in the wording you already use. There is no setting, no tagging of options and no list to upload. If a survey has two such questions, the first one is used.
-
What happens to answers typed under “Other”?
They are read the same way as your listed options. “insta” counts under Instagram and “chat gpt” under AI assistant with ChatGPT as the source. Text that matches no channel stays under Other with the cleaned-up wording as its source, and noise such as “me” or “don’t remember” is marked Unknown.
-
How are follow-up questions used?
A follow-up shown only to people who picked a given answer, such as “Which podcast?” after Podcast, supplies the Reported Source. It can be a list, an autocomplete or a text box, and you can chain follow-ups as deep as you like. The setup guide walks through it.
-
Will different spellings split my report?
Differences in capitals, spacing and the way a handle is written do not. “@Some.Account”, “@SOME.ACCOUNT” and “saw @some.account” are one row, and “the daily” and “THE DAILY” are one row. Zigpoll does not look names up anywhere, so two genuinely different spellings of a name stay as the customer wrote them.
-
Do I need to maintain a list of podcasts, creators or placements?
No. The source is whatever the customer names, so a new sponsorship shows up without anyone editing the survey. If you would rather customers choose from names, add them as options or use an autocomplete question. Anything typed instead is still kept.
-
Which languages does it understand?
Platform names such as TikTok or Google are recognised in any language. Everyday wording, like the phrases people use for a friend, an advert or a shop, is understood in sixteen: English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Swedish, Danish, Finnish, Hungarian, Polish, Czech, Slovak, Lithuanian and Japanese. Anything else keeps the customer’s own text as the source.
-
Does it use AI to classify answers?
No. Answers are sorted by fixed rules, which is why the result is instant, identical every time and never sent to an outside service. Zigpoll’s AI features, such as summaries and the MCP server, work on top of the sorted data if you want them.
-
Does it work on answers I collected before?
Every past pick of a listed option is grouped under its channel the first time you open the report, so revenue by Reported Channel covers your history. Typed answers are read from the day the feature launched onward.
-
Where does the data go?
The two fields travel with the response to every integration that receives response metadata, including Klaviyo, Shopify Flow, Google Sheets, Segment, Braze, Iterable, Customer.io, Attentive, Omnisend, Zapier, Make, n8n and webhooks. They are also in CSV exports, the Responses filter, the REST API and the MCP server.
-
What does it cost?
Nothing extra. It is part of Zigpoll on every plan, including the free plan with 50 responses a month, and there is no demo call or waitlist to get through. See pricing.
-
Can I still compare survey answers with Meta, Google and GA4?
Yes. The same Answers by picker switches between what customers reported and what the click data recorded, including last-click source and UTMs. Attribution surveys covers that side in full.
