Know why shoppers leave without buying.
One question, asked the moment a visitor heads for the exit. Shipping, price, a sold-out size or just browsing: hear the real reason while they are still on the page.

Turn Exits Into Answers
Asked as they leave, aimed at the shoppers who matter, acted on before they are gone.
Opens as they head for the exit.
On desktop it opens when the cursor leaves the top of the window. Phones have no cursor, so it opens on a fast scroll up, a switch to another tab or app, or a long pause.
Tune the sensitivity, the timer and the devices. It opens at most once per page load.
How mobile exit intent works
Ask the shoppers who matter.
On Shopify, open it only when the cart has items, only when it is empty, or by cart total. AMARO found over 50% of shoppers leaving with items in their cart were waiting for a coupon or discount.
Narrow it by page, new or returning visitor, traffic source, country and device.

Answer the objection on the spot.
Branch on the answer: a one-time discount code for price, free shipping for shipping cost, a link to what is in stock for a missing size, an email signup for browsers.

Melvin & Hamilton suspected a redesign behind a conversion dip. Their exit survey showed size stockouts were the bigger reason.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
What is an exit-intent survey?
A short survey that opens when a visitor is about to leave your site and asks what stopped them. Because it asks in the moment, you hear the real reason: price, shipping cost, a sold-out size, missing information or just browsing. It works on Shopify and on any website with the Zigpoll embed.
-
How does exit intent work on mobile?
Phones have no cursor, so Zigpoll opens the survey on the first of three signals: a fast scroll up toward the address bar, a switch to another tab or app, or no scrolling or taps for a while (45 seconds at the default sensitivity). On desktop it opens when the cursor leaves the top of the window. Run it on all devices, desktop only or mobile only.
-
Will it interrupt shoppers who are still browsing?
You decide how eager it is. Nothing fires until the Exit Intent Timer has passed (10 seconds on your site by default), it opens at most once per page load, and an appearance limit caps how often one person sees it. If it opens too early, lower the sensitivity or raise the timer.
-
Can I show it only to shoppers with items in their cart?
Yes, on Shopify. Choose only when the cart has at least one item, only when it is empty, or custom rules on cart total and item count. You can run one survey for each, with different questions, as AMARO does.
-
Can I offer a discount to shoppers who say price is the problem?
Yes. Show a Promo Code question only to people who pick price: a static code, or a unique one-time Shopify code for each respondent, as a percentage, a fixed amount or free shipping, with an optional expiry. Other answers can redirect to a page or ask for an email.
-
Does it work on Shopify checkout?
No. Shopify doesn’t let apps watch the cursor or open pop-ups on checkout pages. Run exit intent on product and cart pages, and send an Abandoned Checkout email or SMS survey to shoppers who leave during checkout.
-
What do stores find out?
Usually something they didn’t expect. Partify found missing parts and confusing product titles, and saw a significant increase in conversion after fixing them. Yay’s Snacks found shoppers unsure which flavor to buy and fixed it with content. Jobtest offers a coupon when an answer mentions price, and lifted paywall conversion by about 8%.
-
Is there a free plan?
Yes. Zigpoll is free forever for up to 50 responses a month with no credit card, and you can upgrade any time as volume grows. See pricing.
